Seattle, Washington

The Red Barn is Boeing’s original factory building and one of the company’s most important surviving artifacts. Built in 1909 as part of a Seattle boatyard, it became Boeing’s first production facility in 1916, where early wood-and-fabric aircraft were designed and built. Saved from demolition, the building was moved by barge in 1975 and later became the centerpiece of Seattle’s Museum of Flight.

A note from the road
